June Whitman Updates
Following the Town Meeting surge, things have been a little quieter. Still some news that happened in Whitman in June!
Hanson STM June 17
Rare that I include a Hanson meeting here, but what’s relevant to Whitman is that Hanson has agreed to fund the School District at the same level Whitman voted at our Annual Town Meeting and the same level assessed by the School Committee. Hanson’s Town Meeting did this by reducing hours for many of their town services.

Whitman Day
The third annual Whitman Day was a huge success! Thousands of people showed up for a day filled with activities in the park. I can’t wait for the 4th!

The plan for South Shore Tech’s new school
The Select Board heard a presentation from SST’s Superintendent Tom Hickey on the current status of the School Building Project. Being no stranger to MSBA building projects, the Board had questions. The building is expected to cost $283 Million, offer space for 900 students and two new programs for students, and be decided by a January 2025 district wide ballot vote.

Firefighter’s Memorial Sunday
On June 9th the Select Board was invited to a moving ceremony for Firefighter’s Memorial Sunday. We celebrated some retirements, honored some members who went above and beyond in the call of duty, and remembered those that we’ve lost.
