How to Vote in the State Primary Election

The State Primary Election is officially scheduled for September 1, but some changes have been made this year that mean voting has already begun.

First: Confirm that you are registered to vote. You can check HERE. If you aren’t registered to vote, the deadline to register for the State Primary election is August 22nd and you can register online HERE.

Election Day Voting

If you choose to vote in person, on election day, you just need to show up at Town Hall on September 1st. Polls will be open from 7AM - 8PM.

In Person Early Voting

Early voting will be available the following days and times at Town Hall:

  • Saturday August 22 2PM - 8PM

  • Sunday August 23 9AM - 1PM

  • Monday (8/24), Wednesday(8/26), and Thursday (8/27) 8AM - 4:30PM

  • Tuesday August 25 8AM - 7:30PM

  • Friday August 28 9AM - 1PM

Early Vote by Mail / Absentee Voting

You can return the ballot application that was mailed to you, either by mail or dropping it in the drop box next to Town Hall. It is located next to the ramp in the parking lot. If you lost or did not receive that application you can print it from HERE. Complete the form and send it any of three ways. By mail: to Office of the Town Clerk, 54 South Ave., P.O. Box 426, Whitman MA 02382. By fax: (781) 618-9791. By email: dawn.varley@whitman-ma.gov. You have until Wednesday August 26 at 5PM to apply for a mail ballot.

After receiving your ballot you just need to fill it out, and return it. Postage is prepaid so you can put it in the mail or use the drop box next to Town Hall. It needs to be received by the Clerk by 8PM on September 1. If you want to track your ballot to make sure it has been received, you can do so HERE.

If you want to Absentee Vote in person, you can still do that until Monday August 31 at 12PM.
