July Whitman Updates
Pretty light month of news as local government meetings slow down in the summer, but here’s what happened in Whitman in July
New Faces in Town Hall
Some new department heads started in Town Hall, with Debra Ó Broin appointed Temporary Treasurer / Collector after the elected Treasurer / Collector declined the position after winning the election. Our previously appointed temporary Treasurer / Collector, Sharon LoPiccolo, returned to her previous role as Assistant Treasurer / Collector as the MOU holding her union position for her expired with the election. Because the Town voted, now for the third time, to not make our Treasurer / Collector an appointed position Debra’s appointment is until the May 2026 election. Jim Ewell was also appointed as the Conditional Building Commissioner and Zoning Enforcement Officer.
